how salons work
THE MEMBER DIRECTORY
The backbone of the network: searchable by discipline, specialty, location, and services offered. This is a functional tool for finding who you need, making referrals with confidence, and being found by people already predisposed to trust and hire you. Looking for a brand strategist, a ceramicist, a grant writer, a financial advisor who gets creative businesses? Search here first.
A SEAT AT THE TABLE
Monthly Salon gatherings are curated, intimate, and intentionally limited in attendance. Inspired by Gertrude Stein's legendary Paris salon, these evenings are by personal invitation only, extended to a carefully selected group of members each month based on availability, geography, and the particular alchemy of who belongs in the room together. Not every member will receive an invitation every month, and that's by design. Curation is what keeps the room right.
When you receive an invitation, you have 72 hours to confirm your seat. After that, it moves to the next member on the list. Every seat at the table is occupied by someone who chose to be there
REGIONAL CHAPTERS
The Salon is one network, gathering in many rooms.
As membership grows across geographies, regional chapters form around a simple premise: the same intimacy, curation, and commitment to doing business together—held locally, by someone who believes in it enough to host it.
Each chapter is led by a designated Chapter Host: a Salon member who volunteers to facilitate their local gathering, curate their room, and keep the energy of the network alive in their city or community. Hosting a chapter is not administrative work, it's creative leadership. And it comes with its own benefits within the Weird Specialty ecosystem.
Chapters operate under The Salon's values and standards. The directory, the community space, the session recaps, the 72-Hour Seat Rule—all of it travels with the network. What changes is the table, the city, and the particular mix of women gathered around it.
If you're a member who feels the pull to host, reach out. We're building this deliberately, one chapter at a time, with people who are ready to hold the room.
ONLINE COMMUNITY SPACE
The daily work of doing business together happens here, between gatherings. Post asks, share opportunities, make warm introductions, celebrate wins, circulate knowledge. This is where members stay woven into each other's professional lives regardless of geography or schedule.
PREFERENTIAL ACCESS
Salon members receive first access to Weird Retreats, preferential rates for 1-on-1 advising partnerships, and member-only experiences.
SESSION RECAPS
After every gathering, in any chapter, all members receive recaps: key insights, resources shared, connections made. You stay connected to the table even when you can't be in the room.
our members
The Salon is for creative female entrepreneurs who are:
Building something real, on their own terms
Whether you're just starting out, mid-stride, or pivoting into your next chapter. Designers, artists, creative directors, writers, practitioners, performers, consultants building businesses that honor their creative vision rather than someone else's template.
Committed to doing business differently
You’re not interested in extraction economics or performative networking. You’re actively looking to hire, refer, collaborate with, and invest in other women.
Ready to contribute, not just consume
You show up, offer feedback, make introductions, celebrate wins. Community requires participation, and the network is only as strong as what members put into it.
Values-driven and integrity-focused
You translate your values into how you build, not just what you build.
Oriented toward genuine collaboration
You believe that other women's success doesn't diminish yours. You want a community you can actually do business with, not just be seen by.
PREFERENTIAL ACCESS
You understand that independent creative women are an economic and cultural force, and you're ready to be part of a collective of advocates, both within this network and in the rooms where policy gets made.
SESSION RECAPS
You understand that independent creative women are an economic and cultural force, and you're ready to be part of a collective of advocates, both within this network and in the rooms where policy gets made.
This community is intentionally curated. Membership requires application and demonstrated alignment.
our values
Collective Advocacy
We believe independent creative women are chronically undervalued and underrepresented in policy conversations. We are building toward a network powerful enough to change that through lobbying, organized advocacy, and demanding structural economic support for ourselves.
economic solidarity
We keep our economic activity inside the network as much as possible. Hire each other, refer each other, invest in each other. This is how independent creative women build real power.
Authentic Collaboration
Business emerges from real relationships. We facilitate women doing business together through genuine connection and aligned values
Depth Over Breadth
We keep gatherings intimate because real transformation happens in smaller containers. We'd rather go deep with fewer people than skim the surface with many.
evolving practice
The Salon is a living experiment in how creative entrepreneurs can build networks that actually serve us. It's deliberate, evolving, and intentionally different from anything that already exists.
Holistic Entrepreneurship
Business success requires attention to creative soul, emotional wisdom, and practical systems in equal measure. We support the whole person.
strategic curation
The quality of who's in the room determines the quality of what happens in the room, and who sits at the table shapes what becomes possible there. Curation is how we protect the integrity of the network.
