FAQs

What is The Salon at Weird Specialty?

The Salon is a private, vetted membership network for independent female creative entrepreneurs committed to doing business with each other. It's a self-sustaining economy with a searchable member directory at its core, regional chapters forming nationally and internationally, and a long-term mission of collective advocacy and policy change for independent creative women.

The Salon is open to female creative entrepreneurs at any business stage, whether you're just starting out, established, or pivoting. Members include designers, artists, writers, wellness practitioners, creative consultants, filmmakers, and multi-hyphenate creatives. Membership requires application and alignment with our values: economic solidarity, authentic collaboration, and commitment to doing business within the network.

Who can join The Salon?

How much does The Salon membership cost?

Annual membership is $250, renewing each January. The fee is intentionally accessible. It signals commitment to the community and to the principle of reciprocity that makes the network function.

How do The Salon's monthly gatherings work?

Monthly Salon gatherings are curated, invitation-only events held by regional chapters across the country and abroad. Attendance is intentionally limited. Members receive personal invitations on a rolling basis and have 72 hours to confirm their seat before it moves to the next member on the list. Not every member is invited every month; curation is what keeps the room right.

How do I join The Salon or start a regional chapter?

To join, request an invitation through weirdspecialty.com. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for alignment with The Salon's values and membership criteria. If there isn't a chapter in your city yet and you're interested in becoming a Chapter Host facilitating local gatherings and growing the network in your community, you can express interest through the same portal.
